May Beauty Favourites!

It's favourites time again... This month has been filled with quite a lot of warmth and sunshine which makes me very happy and obviously we had the Royal Wedding which I was absolutely glued too, we even had a tea party for the occasion, it was immense and Meghan looked obviously stunning as always!

This months favourites features some oldies but goodies and one new product that I'm totally obsessed with! Firstly I dug my Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette back out because not only is the palette absolutely fierce for the Autumn months but it's scorching hot for the Spring/Summer months too, I really want the Naked Petite Palette now too!

The Tanya Burr Peonies Please Illuminating Powder has been my total obsession since last August to be honest, it's the prettiest blush/highlight hybrid I've ever seen or used, the pinky glow is just stunning and perfect for Spring/Summer, if you haven't tried this yet then you need to beaut's! 

I've been using the PMD Kiss Lip Plumping System for the last two months and have become totally obsessed with it, I do have a full review HERE with before and after picture's if you want to know more about it, but basically it's an at home lip plumping treatment that uses a pulsating vacuum along with a serum to safely boost collagen in the lips to create more volume! It's so quick and easy to use and it really does works beaut's, I'm a little addicted to it now I must admit he he!

I've had Vichy's Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation in my stash for ages, I hadn't really used it much because my skin was slightly drier before, but I seem to have turned more oily/combination over the last few months so decided to try it out again and I bloody well love it! The coverage is incredible and it lasts all day without the need for touch ups yet it's so lightweight and doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything most of the time. It has a semi matte finish to so it controls my oily patches but still leaves my skin with an ever so slight glow to it!

Finally this month my perfume of choice has been Vera Wang's Hippie Princess, I always get this one out at this time of the year because it's very fruity and sweet and always reminds me of Summer!

Vichy Dermablend Cover Matte Powder Foundation Review

If you've been reading my blog a while now you'll probably already know that I'm a huge fan of Vichy, I use their skincare products on a daily basis and even their Dermablend makeup is part of my makeup collection, so when I saw that they had added to their Dermablend range with a powder foundation I just knew I was going to have to give it a whirl!

 If your new to Dermablend, it's Vichy's award winning makeup range that conceals and treats skin concerns, from blemishes and uneven skin tone through to scaring and rosacea the range offers high coverage with a light weight feel and with the added bonus of SPF! The new Dermablend Covermatte Compact Powder Foundation* is perfect if your wanting to set your base makeup into place in a lightweight way for up to 12 hours whilst also adding full, buildable coverage and keeping oil and shine at bay throughout the day too.  

I have more combination skin these days, some areas get a little oily and some areas get a little dry so I always need to powder my skin, however I've found it really hard to find the perfect powder that sets and covers without looking cakey or over powdery on my skin until now! Honestly beaut's this powder has been a life saver for me, it never ever looks over powdery or cakey, it keeps my makeup set in place throughout a whole working day and it also adds some coverage so my skin looks pretty much pixel perfect. I also love how it never feels heavy, a lot of full coverage powders - or any powders to be honest - can go heavy or patchy but Vichy's offering never ever feels heavy on my skin and it never goes patchy either.

Overall I cant recommend this powder enough, it's honestly one of my favourite new makeup launches I've tried in a while, and I can see myself purchasing it over and over because I cant be without this beauty now! It lightly mattifies, feels smooth, never clings to my dryer areas, has great coverage, feels lightweight on my skin and keeps shine at bay, whats not to love! It's also great for travelling or popping into your handbag too because the compact has a good sized mirror and the powder flips up to reveal a handy 'on the go' sponge! I literally love this powder as much as my MAC mineralize skin finish natural, which really is saying something!

Top 5 Products From Vichy

Last year I started a little series of posts featuring my top 5, their was everything from lip liners to brow products and even makeup under £5.00 but I realised I'd never done a top 5 featuring any skincare so today I thought I'd share with you all my favourites from Vichy.  

The Moisturisers!

My favourite day time moisturiser by Vichy is without a doubt their Normaderm Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser, I use this every single morning without fail and as soon as I run out I have to re-purchase another bottle straight away as my skin goes into meltdown otherwise. My skin just seems to love this moisturiser so much and it definitely brightens my complexion, moisturises well, it has really helped even out my skin tone and lightened blemishes over time whilst also keeping me spot free, I love this stuff!

 If your looking for a new super moisturising and really illuminating eye cream then you have to give Vichy's Idealia Eyes a whirl, this stuff will nourish beyond belief and because it's enriched with instant illuminators it brightens the eye area so well reducing darkness whilst also smoothing and soothing! 

Because I have dryer skin I always have to use a night cream and the Idealia Skin Sleep is my favourite of them all, it has a comforting gel-balm texture that feels lovely when I'm applying it and in the mornings my skin feels so soft, nourished, glowy and supple!

Face Mask! 

I'm a massive face make fan but truth be told I never stick to the same mask all the time, I'm always chopping and changing but my favourite one by Vichy is their Double Glow Peel Mask. This mask is formulated to boost your skin’s natural radiance, and instantly restore luminosity back into your complexion, and this definitely makes my sensitive skin appear brighter and glowy, it's like a 'pick me up' for my skin because my skins texture is always so smooth, supple and moisturised afterwards, and like I said before my skins always super radiant too afterwards. I'd highly recommend this mask if your suffering from dull, tired looking, sensitive skin, it's going to work wonders!
Foundation!

Vichy foundations are bloody fantastic and their Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation happens to be my personal favourite. I don't really have problematic skin or acne (which this foundation is incredible for) however I do love good coverage for perfect looking skin and this foundation is incredible in the coverage side of things, it's able to cover acne, scarring, blemishes, uneven skin tone etc but in a lightweight way, all thanks to it's creamy, fluid formula. It has a gorgeous semi matte finish which I love but it still has a slight glow to it but isn't shiny what so ever and lasts an incredibly long time, it's honestly insanely good stuff and I couldn't be without it in my collection.

As you can see I have a lot of love for Vichy as a brand and still have other products from them that I love but this five are my all time favourites that I have or would keep re-purchasing over and over!

Vichy Idéalia Overnight Peeling Review

If you've been reading my blog a while now you'll probably already know I'm a huge fan of Vichy, I use a few of their skincare products on a daily basis and even their dermablend makeup, so when I saw that they had added to their popular Idéalia range with an overnight peeling care treatment I couldn't wait to give it a whirl. 

Idéalia Peeling* is the first overnight peeling treatment from Vichy, it has been designed to tackle exhausted skin and restore the skin's radiance, whilst also refining pores, improving the skin's texture, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and is said to leave the skin refreshed and refined. To apply the product all you have to do is simply pop some of the Idéalia Peeling onto a cotton pad and wipe around the face straight after cleansing in the evening, then simply follow on with your regular skin care routine. It's super quick and easy to use and doesn't really take up any extra time in my routine, and what I love about Vichy's offering is that it has been adapted for sensitive skin, where as many other overnight peeling products aren't, so it's great for a sensitive little bunny like me he he.

After using the Idéalia Peeling for a few weeks now I have definitely seen an improvement in my skins texture, it's super smooth and supple and my makeup seems to go on smoother and looks a lot more flawless and even, I do tend to get the odd dry patch here and there on my skin too but since using the peeling I haven't had any trouble with dryness, this could just be a coincidence though. I've also noticed it's had a calming effect on my skin and has reduced the redness I always get around my nose and chin in the mornings dramatically, so if redness is a problem for you then I'd definitely recommend giving this a whirl.  

Overall I've really been enjoying Vichy's new Idéalia Peeling, as I said before it's super quick to use and honestly take less that a minute to apply and the rewards for adding this small step are really good for me, my skin has certainly taken a shine to the Idéalia Peeling which I thought it would because I get on so well with the rest of the range too. If your looking for something that works really hard on your skin during the night but in a gentle way that will make your skin appear fresher, glowing and super smooth in the mornings then Vichy's Idéalia Peeling is worth a go for sure!

What's On My Bedside Table?

I love a bit of bedside beauty these days, there was often times in the past where I'd forget my night cream and wake up with the driest face, or my hand cream would be stashed in my handbag so I'd forget to apply it before bed (more like I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed to get it he he) so I now have everything I need right before bed on my bedside table, that way I can add my potions and lotions right from my bedside he he.

The first two products that have to be on my bedside table are my beloved Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep and my Clinque Pep Start Eye Cream, if these two aren't right next to me before bed I simply forget to apply them, and seeing as my skin loves this duo so much forgetting them can not be an option. The Skin Sleep nourishes my skin so much overnight and leaves me with a fresher complexion in the morning, it's a great night cream if you wake up to really dull skin because it combats that straight away! The Pep Start Eye Cream is so thick and moisturising and although it's meant to be a morning eye cream I love using it at night instead because it soothes my tired eyes but also makes my eyes appear brighter in the morning, it feels so luxurious too like I'm really treating my eyes he he.

I also have to slather my lips with lip balm right before I go to sleep otherwise I wake up with super dry lips and my all time favourite is the Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I have loads of these lip balms in all different scents because the formula is so nice and does a great job at long term moisturising, I hate those lip balms that only make your lips feel nourished for half an hour, I like one that will keep my lips soft and ready for lipstick for hours and Burt's Bees does just that. Finally I HAVE to have hand cream on my bedside table at all times, my hands get sooooo dry, I'm so hard on my hands day to day so at night I whack a thick layer of Soap & Glory's Hand Food on, I actually put so much on that it doesn't sink in straight away but I think that works best for me as it nourishes all night then.

Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask Review

I absolutely adore face masks so when I heard one of my favourite skincare brands Vichy where bringing out not one but three brand new face masks I couldn't wait to give them a whirl! The three masks in question (which can all be used together in stages if you wish) are a Pore Purifying Clay Mask which is ideal for combination to oily skin with congested and clogged pores, a Quenching Mineral Mask perfect for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin and finally the one I've been testing out is the Double Glow Peel Mask, yes I did just say double glow he he.

The Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask* is formulated to boost your skin’s natural radiance, and instantly restore luminosity back into your complexion, making it ideal for anyone with dull, tired looking and sensitive skin, this one really stood out for me because anything that's going to make my sensitive skin appear brighter and glowy I'm all about. The mask itself is actually made up of two parts, the first part of the double-peel action consists of chemical AHAs made from fruit acids, which sweep away dead skin cells to reveal a fresher, more even texture to the skin. Secondly, a physical exfoliator made with a volcanic rock origin buffs and brightens your skin tone.

To apply the mask I simply pop a thin, even layer all over my face avoiding my eyes, I then leave it to sit on my skin for five minutes, then massage gently with my fingers tips and rinse off with warm water and a face cloth. The texture of this mask and how the mask works was actually totally different to what I was expecting and certainly nothing like what I've ever tried before, the mask actually has a very thin, watery, gel like texture with no visible volcanic rock suspended within it at all however, once the mask has been on for five minutes the wet, gel like feeling has completely dried and your left with the finest gritty feeling on the skin which gently exfoliates whilst your removing it! If your looking for a mask that dries hard and stiff  which you can peel off this wont be for you but personally I find this mask a lot quicker, easier and cleaner to use.

After using this mask my skin always feels absolutely fantastic, it honestly feels like a 'pick me up' for my skin because my skins texture is always so smooth, supple and moisturised afterwards, it definitely makes me face appear brighter and radiant too and I actually had a spot coming up under my chin the other day and I used this mask that same evening, and the next morning the spot had completely vanished, I was so impressed! Overall I cant recommend this mask enough, if you have dull, tired skin that needs a boost this is the perfect 'pick me up' mask to try!

May Beauty Favourites ♥

Its that time again.... Monthly favourites time! I cant quite believe how quick May has whizzed past, I know I probably say that every month but it honestly scares me that the months go by so quickly! This month I've actually had quite a few new things to try that fast became favourites of mine, in fact I've fallen in love with all the new things I've bought recently! Anywhoo onto the few things I've been loving this month beauty wise!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette

Arhhhh firstly this month is the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette, who else was patently refreshing the Debenhams website at the very beginning of May for this palette as I sure was and thankfully I managed to get it! I'm head over heels in love with this palette, not only are all the shades stunning but the actually quality of the eyeshadows is insane, they are so pigmented, buttery soft, easy to work with and blend like a dream. My favourite way to wear this palette at the moment is by taking Peaches'N'Cream all over the lid, Puree as a blend out shade through the crease, Luscious all over the lid and Charmed, I'm Sure at the outside corners and slightly through the crease to add more definition, arhhhh this palette is just stunning and I absolutely love it!

MAC Strobe Cream Travel Size

Next up is Mac's Strobe Cream, I've been obsessed with using this as a base underneath my foundation! Not only does this little beauty hydrate my skin but it also boosts the look of my dull, tired skin in mornings as well as adding a gorgeous radiant, iridescent glow to my skin! Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint in Aloha

Just like last month I'm still loving the Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint in Aloha, not only is it my favourite shade within the collection but the Coconut Infusion formula is my favourite out of all the Barry M Nail Paints I've tried! I cant wait to see what other shades they bring out in this formula later on in the year!

MAC Matte Lipstick in Mehr

Mac's Mehr is my latest Mac lipstick purchase and my goodness it's a goodie, even though the formula is matte I never find that it dries my lips out at all and the colour is just beautiful, it's described as a dirty blue pink and I find it's the perfect darker shade of pink to wear on a daily basis, I love it!

NYX Wonder Stick in Light/Medium

The Boots is Norwich now have an amazing NYX counter so obviously I picked a few things up, well it would be rude not to right he he! One of the things that I've been blown away by is their Wonder Stick, it has a cream highlighter at one end and a cream contour shade at the other and the contour shade is where the parties at, the formula is just so creamy and blends like a dream within seconds, I've honestly never found contouring so quick and easy in my entire makeup life, and I can see mt repurchasing this over and over now!  

Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser

During May I have been testing out Vichy's new Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser and have fallen in love with it! I've always been a fan of Vichy's skincare as it always works wonders for my skin and this Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser works like no other moisturiser I've tried before, as well as hydrating my skin it does a fabulous job at evening out my pores, I can hardly notice them after using this it's like they are blurred out. I've also noticed that my skin looks brighter and more awake and overtime I've definitely noticed that the odd dark blemish I've had has lightened in colour and is on it's way out which is amazing! 

Mac Prep + Primer Fix +

My last beauty favourite this month is my trusty Fix + Spray by Mac, this just works so well for me in so many ways, I use to prime my skin, as a finishing/setting spray, I spray it on my brushes to get a foiled effect with my eye shadows or highlighter and I spray it on my beauty blender before applying my foundation! It's literally an all rounder that I definitely couldn't be without now in my everyday makeup routine!

Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Review

You may already know that I'm a huge Vichy Skincare fan, I've tried quite a few things from the brand now and have always been so impressed and my skin has seriously thanked me for it, so when I saw that they had released a Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser in their Normaderm collection I couldn't wait to give it a whirl!

The Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care* is a powerful anti-blemish moisturiser, which claims to combat signs of imperfection-prone skin even on your monthly cycle, and also helps your skin to look radiant, hydrated and beautiful. This literally ticked all the boxes for by its description but.... the proof is in the pudding and I couldn't wait to slap some of my face.

The formula of the Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care moisturiser is lovely, it's light mint in colour and has a light fresh scent to it, nothing over perfumed though. The texture of the moisturiser when you pump it out is light and creamy, it applies easy and is quickly absorbed within a minute or so. When the moisturiser has absorbed it actually feels like velvet, kind of like what you would get from a primer and works amazingly as a base for your foundation because as well as hydrating my skin it does an fabulous job at evening out my pores, I can hardly notice them after using this it's like they are blurred out. I've also noticed that my skin looks brighter and more awake and overtime I've definitely noticed that the odd dark blemish I've had has lightened in colour and is on it's way out which is amazing! In terms of tackling breaks outs I cant really say if the Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care is a hit or not, I'm actually quite lucky in that department and don't suffer with any break outs and I only ever get the odd spot here and there which usually disappears by itself after a few days but seeing how amazing this product has worked reducing my blemishes, pores and blackheads I'm pretty sure this would give spots the boot too!

Overall I absolutely love the Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care Moisturiser, it does everything I look for in a moisturiser and then some! I would recommend this little beauty for all skin types even though the Normaderm range is targeted more towards oily, acne/blemish prone skin, I have combination skin with dryer patches and I've had no problems what so ever, my skins always perfectly hydrated, fresh looking, smooth, never greasy and just all round great, I'd even repurchase this which really is saying something hehe!

Vichy Dermablend 3D Correction Foundation Review

You might already know that I'm a huge Vichy fan, their skincare is amazing particular the Idealia range which is my absolute favourite but makeup wise I haven't tried that much, only their Dermablend Loose Powder and their Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation both of which I love, so when I heard they where launching a new foundation named Dermablend 3D Correction I couldn't wait to give it a whirl!

The Vichy Dermablend 3D Correction Foundation* (£21.50) claims to transform the appearance of acne-prone skin with it's corrective resurfacing base that provides high coverage and an ultra-matte finish, sounds pretty amazing right. Theres five shades to collect here going from Opal which is the lightest and my chosen shade to Bronze which is the darkest of the bunch, so whether you have a lighter skin tone with pink undertones or a medium-dark complexion with yellow undertones Vichy have got you covered.

So lets kick things off with Dermablend 3D formula... When I first popped some of this foundation on the back of my hand I thought ohhh nooo...the foundation has a thick, mousse like texture that I immediately thought would be heavy, cakey and hard to work with but I was wrong, instead the foundation just glided over my skin like velvet covering any imperfection or blemishes it came across but in such a lightweight way, it smoothed out any bumps I had on my skin and if you suffer from enlarged pores then this foundation is going to work a dream because it literally smoothed them out as well, I couldn't believe it! I found the best way to apply this foundation was on well moisturised skin and with my fingers, I tried my beauty blender and a makeup brush both of which worked OK but applying with the warmth of my fingers just worked wonders and was so quick and easy!

The finish is full coverage, lightweight, and very matte so all you oily-combination gals out there are in for a serious treat here. Lasting power wise I had no problems at all, the foundation kept it's full coverage, lightweight look all day without going patchy at all! 

Overall I'd highly recommend the Dermablend 3D Correction Foundation if your either looking for something to help you achieve a flawless base with a lightweight feel or if you need a foundation that will cover lots of skin concerns such as acne, spots, oiliness, large pores and shine. I can actually see the 3D Correction being awesome throughout the summer months, obviously I haven't had a chance to test it out in the heat but I think with it's lasting ability, lightweight feel and matte finish as well as it containing SPF 25 this could be a summer foundation favourite for sure!

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation Review ♥

You might know already that I'm a huge Vichy fan, their skincare is amazing particular the Idealia range which is my absolute favourite but makeup wise I haven't tried much, only their Dermablend Loose Powder which again I loved so I couldn't wait to give their Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation a go.

The Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* (£18.00) has recently been given a bit of a makeup over and the packaging has now changed to a sleek, all black squeezy tube instead of the white which I much prefer, Vichy have also added three all new shades one of which to suit more porcelain skin tones and then two others for darker skin tones which I think is great as other brands don't seem to cater to many different skin tones do they. I've been testing this foundation out in the shade Opal for quite a number of weeks now and have been sooooo impressed by it, it's an incredibly high coverage foundation that's able to cover acne, scarring, blemishes, uneven skin tone etc but in a lightweight way, all thanks to it's creamy, fluid formula. I was actually quite shocked at how lightweight the Fluid Corrective Foundation is, I always expect full coverage foundations to be heavy and cakey but Vichy's offering is anything but, it's so lightweight, you can even build upon very bad problematic areas without caking, it has a gorgeous semi matte finish that still has a slight glow to it but isn't shiny what so ever and lasts an incredibly long time, Vichy claim it lasts upto 16 hours and I have to say it lasts on my all day. It's a very wearable and comfortable product to use, and the added bonus of an SPF 35 makes it fantastic for using during the summer months.

In terms of application a little goes a very long way with this, I found that I only needed around a pea sized amount of the foundation to cover my entire face, and I found blending the foundation in with a buffing brush is the best way to achieve a flawless application, I then like to take a damp beauty blender afterwards and just pat over everything which just seems to smooth the foundation out even more and makes it look it even more flawless.

If your looking for a setting powder to enhance the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundations ability's even more then the Dermablend Setting Powder* (£17.00) is definitely the way to go, I do have a very old review here if you'd like to read it but I will give you a quick run down now. The Dermablend Setting Powder is a finely milled powder that comes in just one translucent universal shade, the powder can be used to set any foundation into place but can also extend the hold of the Fluid Corrective Foundation for up to 2 hours more which then makes the foundation an 18 hour wear foundation, pretty amazing right. The finish the powder leaves is incredible, it makes my skin look completely flawless and doesn't look powdery or cakey in the slightest and it makes my face feel superrrr silky soft which I love, I'd highly recommend this bad boy he he.

Overall I'd highly recommend the Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation if your either looking for something to help you achieve a flawless base with a lightweight feel or if you need a foundation that will cover lots of skin concerns. The only little complaint I have is that my foundation actually smells slightly iffy, it has a slight plastic smell when you first apply it which makes me screw up my face and think uhhhh for a minute but after it's all blending the smell seems to go so I have no idea what that's about, it obviously has no effect on the product itself but I'd be curious to hear if anyone else thinks the same.
