Makeup Revolution HD Smoky Eyeliner Review

Anyone who knows me will no I'm pretty much obsessed with eyeliner, I wear black eyeliner on my waterline every single day without fail and I've tried my fair share over the years. Of course I have my favourites but I'm always open to trying something new so when I saw Makeup Revolution's new HD Smoky Eyeliner I thought I'd give it a whirl and see how it fared!

Makeup Revolutions HD Smoky Eyeliner* (£3.00) claims to create beautiful and timeless smoky eyes, with a creamy and blendable formula that glides on with ease and is long wearing and waterproof, straight away this sounded like something I would like. The formula itself is absolutely AMAZING!! It's gel based which makes it super duper creamy in texture and glides onto my waterline and upper lash line with ease and smokes/blends out so well. Because it is quite a smudgy smokey product I did wonder whether I was going to have a catastrophe when wearing this eyeliner on my waterline, I actually only have one other eyeliner in my collection that stays put on my waterline without fading, running or smudging and I can honestly say I now have a third because once this beauty has set theres no budging it, it's incredible. The pigmentation is the best I've seen in an eyeliner too, it's literally pitch black, I used to think my Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil was black but Makeup Revolutions offerings is the most intense eyeliner I've tried and I love it!

Overall I cant recommend this eyeliner enough, it's so rich in pigmentation, it lasts all day without smudging, fading or running once it's set even in super hot conditions, it applies and blends easily and is super affordable too at just £3.00. This eyeliner actually reminds me so much of Avon's supershock gel eyeliner that I used to love back in the day but I'd say this one lasts longer, if your a fan of wearing gel based eyeliner then your going to love this one by Makeup Revoultion. I pray MR make this liner in different colours such as metallic's, the formula is just so nice that I would love to have a collection of colours to choose from.

KIKO Midnight Siren Collection Review ♥

In September KIKO launched their Autumn collection aptly named Midnight Siren, the collection consists of a good mixture of products from eyeliners to lipsticks plus much more, all of which come in darker more sultry shades and the packaging is just beautiful, it all has a blackened purple duo-chrome theme which definitely echoes the darker nights ahead. I'm quite new to KIKO so I was soooo happy to finally be able to try some of their products and this range seemed a good place to start so today I thought I share with you all my thoughts on the Midnight Siren Collection.

Silk Pearl Illuminating Bronzer in 02 Irresistible Sienna* £14.90 

The first product I couldn't wait to try was the Silk Pearl Illuminating Bronzer mainly because the packaging just lured me in, the bronzer sits inside a large plastic ball that reminds me of a Pacman from the side, it's not very practical I must admit because it just takes up so much room in my makeup bag but it's definitely eye catching an sturdy that's for sure. The bronzer itself is split into three strips of colour, firstly the largest strip contains a semi-matte dark bronzer that has just enough coolness to make it suitable to contour with as well as bronze, the second strip is a semi-matte light to medium bronzer shade which is great if your slightly scared of bronzer like I am and the last strip is a pretty intense gold highlight shade that isn't really shimmery but adds a real glow to the skin. The formula of this bronzer has literally blown my mind, I've never comes across a powder that is literally as silky and soft as butter and it has such intense colour pay off, it's honestly incredible. 

Midnight Siren Face Brush* £16.90

Next up is the KIKO Midnight Siren Face Brush which is ideal for applying and blending setting powders or bronzer and is exactly what I've been using it for. The fluffy, dense synthetic bristles really ensure the powder is dusted on evenly and blended flawlessly and it's honestly the softest Kabuki style brush I have ever felt, I literally cant stop running my fingers across the top of the bristles as it feels so nice he he.

Dark Tide Eyeliners in Intriguing Blue* and Black* £7.90 each

These Dark Tide Eyeliners are pretty epic, I have the shades Black which is just your typical, straight up matte jet black and Intriguing Blue which is a very deep matte navy both of which have such a creamy, strongly pigmented formula and are so smooth to apply. The lasting power on these is great, both set within around 30 seconds and wont move or budge thereafter which is amazing if you like popping eyeliner into your lower waterline like I do. I also love the packaging on these because they have a twist up function which makes it so much easier and save all that time sharpening like I have to do with kohl pencils. Overall I'm so chuffed with these, so if your look for bold, intense colour payoff that wont move or smudge these are the beauties to go for.

Moon Shadow Water Infused Eyeshadow in Attractive Plum* £7.90

The KIKO Moon Shadow Eyeshadow Sticks are available in four gorgeous shades but I have Attractive Plum which is a deep blackened plum shade with tiny purple micro shimmers running through it, perfect for smokey eye looks and the up and coming party season. The formula of these Moon Shadow Sticks in amazing, it has such a creamy, velvety, light texture that blends with ease and is so long lasting without creasing, the only thing I have noticed is that you have to work fast when blending these eyeshadow sticks out because it sets quite rapidly so I would suggest working on one eye at time. 

Matte Muse Lipstick in Embellished Peony* £6.90

And lastly but in no means least is the Matte Muse Lipstick in Embellished Peony, I couldn't quite believe this was a lipstick to begin with because the packaging actually looks so much like a nail polish doesn't it he he. The Matte Muse Lipsticks are actually liquid lipsticks that are available in six shades ranging from pinks, purples and reds which all look gorgeous, I have the shade Embellished Peony which is a muted mid tone rosy pink shade perfect for everyday wear and is super matte. The Muse Matte Lipsticks apply extremely creamy and you do get quite a bit of time to perfect your pout before the lipstick sets but once it has set that's it theres no going back. Wear time for me was a good 4 hours until I ate and then I had to reapply which I thought was pretty good, the only thing I will say about the Matte Muse lippie's is if you do suffer from dryer lips then these definitely wont be for you because they are just soooo matte, I even find myself whacking on the lip balm after wearing it and I don't really suffer with dry lips usually. 

Overall Im super impressed with everything I tried from KIKO's Midnight Siren Collection and it's defietly got me lusting after more of their products because the quality is just brillaint!

Essence Goody Bag | Winning the Essence Blog-e Award ♥

Back in August I received a very excited email from the budget friendly makeup brand Essence, stating that I was the lucky winner of their September Blog-e Award. Essence pick one blogger each month to win their Blog-e Award based on any Essence related blog post/posts that you might have posted, I happened so share a Mini Essence Haul of a couple of things I picked up whilst shopping in Wilkinson's and tagged Essence on Twitter and it was after that they then got in touch, I cant tell you how chuffed I am to win the award so thank you soooo much Essence. If winning the award wasn't exciting enough they sent me a little goody bag too which was so nice of them so I thought I'd share with you all what I got and do a mini first impressions on each item.


Essence All About Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette £4.00

Firstly I received this little palette of six eye shadows which is so nice, all of the shades are well pigmented, buttery soft and have a gorgeous metallic finish that looks stunning on the eyes. I will say the shades are more on the taupe side rather than chocolate but I actually really like that, theres something very 'MAC Satin Taupe' about them all and I cant wait to experiment more with them throughout the autumn.

Essence Blush Up! in Heat Wave £3.50

Next up is the Essence Blush Up in the shade Heatwave. Heatwave is an all matte blusher that contains almost a sunset design in the pan going from a bright orange, which then blends into a bright fuchsia pink, this allows you to use the orange side singularly, the pink side singularly, or you can choose to swirl your brush around the whole pan to mix the shades together like I do. The formula is highly pigmented so you don't need to load your brush up to much and leaves you with a gorgeous pop of colour on the cheeks.

Essence XXXL Nude Lip Gloss in Taste The Sweets £2.00

The Essence XXXL Nude Lip Gloss is lovely, I got the shade 'Taste The Sweets' which is a 'your lips but better' kind of shade which is perfect for everyday wear and adds a gorgeous glossy shine to the lips without being sticky at all, which is a major plus for me because I hate sticky gloss which is why I rarely wear lip gloss but surprisingly I love this one.   

Essence Maximum Volume Mascara in Black £2.79

I've been using the Essence Maximum Volume Mascara for the past week and have really been enjoying it, it's really black, doesn't flake or run, provides a smooth and clump free application and leaves me with defined, voluminous lashes. So far ,so good with this little beauty, I'll be doing a full review soon. 

Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner in Black £2.29

I haven't actually used the Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner yet, I do wear winged out liner everyday but I always use the felt tip style pens as I find them really easy to use, however this little beauty doesn't have a nib it has a thin brush applicator instead so I'm definitely going to have to practise with this first. I have swatched the eyeliner and its very black, well pigmented and inky so I think it will look gorgeous I just hope I can apply it OK he he.

Essence Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil in Gunmetal £2.29

The Essence Gel Eyeliner in Gunmetal is absolutely lovely and has me lusting after all the other shades within the collection now, it's just so soft and creamy, well pigmented and because it has a waterproof formula it lasts for hours without a smudge in sight. If you haven't tried any of these yet I'd highly recommend you pick one up as I am in love he he.

Essence Eyebrow Designer in Blonde £1.49

I've never been a brow pencil sort of girl but I actually really liked this Eyebrow Designer in blonde,  the texture is quite thick and hard, but that gives you the advantage of easily building up your desired intensity on your brows and adding definition. I also love that fact that the pencil has a tiny brow brush on the cap, its very useful and I use it to brush my brows through everyday. 

Essence Nail Art Stickers £1.30 Each

Arhhh I haven't used nail art stickers for years so I'm so happy to have a few packets to play with. Essence actually have loads of designs to choose from and they are £1.30 each which I think is an absolute bargain.

Essence Gel and Bling Bling Effect Nail Polish

Lastly in my goody bag I received a few nail polishes to try. I actually already own quite a few of the Essence nail polishes and really like them, the quality is always great and they are so reasonable priced so I'm really happy I have a few more to add to my collection.

Mini Essence Makeup Haul ♥

Essence is a brand that I seem to be seeing a lot in the beauty world at the moment, I've tried a couple of their makeup products over the past year which Ive received in beauty boxes and absolutely loved them so when I saw my local Wilkinson's had an Essence makeup stand I just knew I had to grab a couple of things to try. 

The first thing that caught my eye was their Long lasting Lipstick in the shade On The Catwalk - a pretty neutral burgundy red colour, with strong pink undertones to it. I've tried this a few time since buying it an absolutely love it, the formula is gorgeous and glides effortlessly on lips and feels so hydrating without that tacky or waxy feeling and as the name would suggest it's super long lasting. I think this particular shade of burgundy red will be prefect to wear during the day in the Autumn/Winter months because the colour pay off is still there but it isn't too out there. 

Next I opted for a Lip Liner in the shade Satin Mauve - a dusty rose colour. This is gorgeous and creates such a kardashian-esk pout when used with a nude lipstick in the centre, arhhh I love it! The texture is so soft, almost buttery which makes it so easy to apply, it literally glides smoothly over the very delicate skin of my lips and doesn't drag at all, I'm going to go back and buy every shade of lip liner that's they have because they are only £1.00 each and I'd go as far as saying they are the best liners I've ever come across. 

I then noticed some liquid liners and I'm obsessed with a winged liner look so I thought I'd give one a go so I went for their standard Eyeliner Pen (Extra Long lasting) in Black. I've worn this a couple of times so far and going on my first impressions I don't really like the formula, don't get me wrong the felt tip nib is easy enough to use but the pigmentation after 2 uses is pretty poor and it isn't bold or intense like I'd want it to be and how it was the first two times I used it, it's literally like it's run out after being used twice. On the two occasions I did wear the eyeliner pen I found that the 'extra long lasting' formula was pretty poor because it fades throughout the day and generally doesn't last very long at all. 

Lastly I opted for The Gel Nail Polish in True Love - a gorgeous berry red creme shade with a strong pink undertone. I think this shade is going to be my go to shade throughout the Autumn/Winter months, I blooming love it! The formula itself is nicely pigmented and is opaque with two coats, and it has the most gorgeous glossy finish.

Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen Review

I'm pretty obsessed with liquid liner at the moment, I wont leave the house unless I have my trademark winged liner on which has led me to trying loads of different liners and I've found that the felt tip style are definitely my best friends, however I have tried my fair share of good and bad felt-tip style liquid liners but today I have an absolutely brilliant one to share with you all, the Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen* in Noir.

The Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen is by far the easiest liner I've used to date, the felt-tip nib is perfect at delivering smooth, precise lines whether you want them thick of thin, it isn't to hard or to soft, it has the right amount of flexibility to create wings/flicks with absolute ease and I would highly recommend this liner if you do struggle with creating liner flicks as the Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen makes it so easy, I certainly wish I had this when I was perfecting the art of liquid liner as it would have been so much easier for me to learn. The formula of the Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen is great... It is water-based so does come out quite wet and inky and takes a few seconds to dry and it contains special pigments that ensure long wear and keeps it's bold black colour from running. The finish of the liner is slightly shiny and still looks quite inky but personally I love that look, it isn't waterproof but once this liner sets, it does not seem to budge or transfer what so ever. My overall experience based on regular work days is it honestly doesn't budge all day and looks the same late at night as when I applied it first thing in the morning. 

Overall I'm so impressed by this liner, it's everything I want and look for in a liquid liner, it's easy to use, creates wing/flicks with ease, stays put all day without fading or smudging, doesn't tug at the delicate skin around the eye area during application and the felt-tip nib is of great quality with a firm tip that doesn't fray at all. The only down side I'd say it that it is pricey at £30.00 from the Cosme-De website, but then again that's to be expected if your looking at higher end liners and I have to admit pricey or not its worth every penny because its blooming brilliant! So if your looking to treat yourself or splurge then I'd highly recommend the Chanel Ecriture De Chanel Eyeliner Pen.

MAC Lorde Collection ♥

You may remember last month I wrote a post all about the upcoming Disney Maleficent Make-Up Collection that MAC are releasing this Summer and if that wasn't good enough MAC have something else up their sleeves for this Summer in the shape of a collaboration with New Zealand born, 17 year old (yes, I couldn't believe it either) singer-songwriter Lorde. 

The collection is actually no more than a duo which consists of a limited edition deep plum, Lipstick called Pure Heroine (£15.00) which shares the same name as Lorde's Album and a Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack (£17.00). The duo is completely inspired by Lorde's signature beauty look, so if your a fan or Lorde and want to recreate her deep plum lips and dramatic wing-tipped eyeliner, now you can.

The Lipstick is due for release on June 5th and the Eyeliner is actually available to buy in store and online now as it's already part of MAC's permanent makeup line.

 I do really like the look of the lipstick and Lorde certain wears it well however I don't think I'd be brave enough to rock a plum lip that dark but I'm sure it will fly off the shelves. I would of liked to see a few more makeup pretties in the collection, maybe some sort of brow product and something to create her amazing, clear base but maybe MAC will add a few more products later on in the year, we will see.

Real Techniques 'NEW' Silicone Liner Brush | Review

Today I'm back with an exciting review for you all featuring one of my most favourite brush brands Real Techniques. As you may know Real Techniques brushes are designed by the lovely Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo and recently Real Techniques welcomed Sam's sister Nic Chapman to their fabulous makeup brush line. To begin their collaboration together, Nic and Sam have released four brand new innovative brushes which include a Retractable Kabuki Brush £11.95, a Retractable Bronzing Brush £12.95 (review coming soon), a Retractable Lip Brush £6.95 and a Silicone Liner Brush* £5.95 which I'll be reviewing for you all today.

Firstly I have to say the Silicone Liner Brush is incredible and such a fantastic idea. I don't know about you but even though I love using gel liners I hardly do as I find washing the brush everyday a pain, even if you wipe you brush clean the next day you go to apply your gel liner and then oh... you are greeted by a rock hard brush with clumps of gel liner on it, what a pain, but Real Techniques have now solved all our problems with their Silicone Liner brush. As this liner brush has a silicone nib/applicator it means its so easy to keep clean with one easy wipe woohoo!! As for application... The Silicone Liner Brush can be used with liquid, cream and gel liners, which all glide on smoothly with no dragging on the eye at all, the silicone nib is also nice and flexible so it really works with the eye, it's extremely precise too, giving you sharp straight lines and its super easy to create flicks/wings thanks to the silicone nib's amazing shape, I must admit it did take me about 2-3 goes before I had mastered using the brush totally, as its just so different from anything else I've tried before.

Overall, I'm super impressed with this little brush, I'm so glad to have found such an amazing gel liner applicator that works well and is super easy to keep clean, its just so different and unique too, I love it!!!

 As I said the Eye Brush Set includes 7 brushes, all of which I think would be amazing for beginners as the set contains every brush you will need to create numerous eye looks or for anyone who just wants to add some great quality brushes to their brush collection. Whilst I've been testing and trying each brush from the eye brush set I've been able to use the brushes in a multitude of ways, such as for my eye brows and even to blend concealer on my delicate eye area , you really aren't restricted with this set at all.

Large Shader Brush*

The largest brush in the set is the large shader brush which is great for applying your base eyeshadow colour, as the brush is so so dense it picks up alot of pigment and packs on the colour brilliantly. 

Blending Eyeshadow Brush*

The blending eyeshadow brush has to be one of my absolute favourites out of the 7 piece set, its so soft and fluffy, I love it!!! I felt when using the blending eyeshadow brush that the brush really done all the work for me as it literally takes a matter of seconds before you have beautifully blended eyeshadow, you really don't have to take the time to work at it like I do with other blending brushes I have. Ive also used the blending brush for blending concealer under my eye area and around my nose and it worked really well, overall this brush is an absolute gem.

Eye Crease Brush*

The eye crease brush is perfect for applying eyeshadow straight onto the crease area and fits in my socket perfectly. It's also a great brush for creating a winged out effect with your eye shadow as it gives you the perfect shape. 

Tapered Crease Brush*

The tapered crease brush is very similar to the eye crease brush but its slightly smaller, I find this brush to be amazing for precise work around the crease area and great for blending around the lower and upper lash line. Its fabulous for smoking out gel eyeliner on you upper lash line too and its super soft. 

Flat Definer Brush*

This brush is very new to me but after having a play around with it I'm in love! On the days when I want a more natural eye look ill use this brush along with a dark brown eyeshadow to line my upper lash line to give the effect of longer fuller lashes, it works so well and the shape of the brush really pushes the eyeshadow in between each eye lash for that perfect look.


Angled Detailer Brush*

The angled detailer brush can be used for lots of different things, I've used mine to fill in my eyebrows a number of times and the effect is great, whether you want to use it to create soft hair like strokes or a very bold sharp brow, its amazing for both. You can also use this brush for gel liner and with eyeshadow to create a soft eyeliner look.  

Precise Bent Eyeliner Brush*

Another brush that is fairly new to me is the precise bent eyeliner brush and my goodness it makes applying liquid or gel eyeliner super easy. I'd highly recommend this brush if you do struggle with getting your eyeliner correct as the size and shape of the brush works tremendously.

I have to say Nanshy have triumphed again with their Eye Brush Set, its absolutely lovely, with each brush feeling very high quality and super soft. All the brushes wash up really well too, I did think because the tips of the bristles are bright white that it would be hard to get them back to their bright white 'new' looking stage, but they actually look brand new after a wash without losing their shape or shedding any bristles. Overall they're a fabulous set of brushes that I now cant live without, they make such a difference in how of my eye make-up applies and looks, I just love them!!!
