Spiced Apple Loaf - A Yummy Autumnal Bake

Hey beaut's!

It's finally October which means I can dust off the spices and do an autumnal, cosy bake. This time around I opted for a spiced apple loaf and wow it's yummy and get's me right in that warm, snugly mood! This loaf has apple and cinnamon within the sponge and the most amazing brown sugar buttercream on the top - which might I add is the best buttercream ever made, the addition of brown sugar is just immense and gives it a slight caramel vibe, oh my!

Yankee Candle Spiced Apple Review - 50th Anniversary Re-Launch!

Hey beauts'!

It still blows my mind that Yankee Candle have been around since the Christmas of 1969!! I mean who knew that...I certainly didn't! So to celebrate the momentous milestone and Yankee Candle's 50th Anniversary they are re-launching some popular classics from back in the day! They actually done this a couple of months back as I reviewed the classic Lily Of The Valley scent, however as these anniversary candles are limited edition Lily Of The Valley is no longer available on the Yankee Candle website so I cant stress enough that if you want a limited edition candle get it now before they all go!
The new re-launch of the Returning Classics range consists of four gorgeous large jars from the 70's, and seeing as we are now in September and I'm officially aloud to get excited about all things autumnal I just had to try Spiced Apple! Spiced Apple is described as 'Our family recipe for apples seasoned with flavourful spices is brimming with down-home appeal' and wowza this candle smells good enough to eat! The candle itself has top notes of cinnamon sugar, cardamom and apple peels, middle notes of juicy macintosh, nutmeg, toffee, pecan and golden pear and base notes of clove and vanilla spice, making it essentially autumn in a candle. It's honestly a mouth-watering scent which is caramel-y sweet but not sickly because the spices really balance it out! I love the rich red colour of the wax too, it adds to that cosy, warm feeling that this candle has. As for the scent throw...it's very good and managed to fill the entire house very quickly and still lingered when it had been blown out, but it isn't an over powering scent which is good, and everyone that walks into my house loves the scent and instantly asks me what candle I'm burning which is always a good indication of a bloody good candle isn't it!

All of the Yankee Candle large jars have a burn time of between 110 – 150 hours and Spiced Apple is certainly lasting me well! If your really into your autumnal, cosy scents like I am then you definitely need to get Spiced Apple, it's got such a spiced toffee-apple element about it which is honestly divine, I cant get enough of this one and feel like I'm definitely going to have to stock up.

You can find the Spiced Apple Yankee Candle for £23.99 on the Yankee Candle website.

5 Eye Products I Love In Autumn!

Hey beaut's!

Now that we are well into Autumn I love switching things up in my makeup stash and recently I've done just that! Gone are the days of those peachy tones (sorry sweet peach palette), it's time those deeper, darker hues have a comeback! Whilst routing through my makeup drawers there where five eye products in particular I just knew I wanted back out!
Firstly I had to whack out my Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette again, this little beauty is crammed full of burnt oranges, copper tones and rich sienna's, arhhh isn't she just so pretty. Theres so many autumnal looks you can create with this palette, whether you want something for day or night your covered which is why I love this palette so much, it's so versatile! As always the Urban Decay quality never fails me and my ole eyeballs.
If there was a single eyeshadow I couldn't live without in Autumn it would have to be my trusty MAC Cranberry. Cranberry is a red-burgundy shade with some ever so slight shimmers running through it and on me and my brown eyes the red-plum metallic tones really come through, I love wearing it just blended across my entire lid with a bit of winged liner, its such an easy autumnal look to create!
If I'm in a rush like I was last week when I overslept and had 10 minutes to get ready for work (what a nightmare) then the Maybelline Color Tattoo's are a must! These beauties can literally be blended across your lid with you finger in like 10 seconds, and my autumnal favourite is the shade Metallic Pomegranate, she's so gorgeous!
Another quick fix is the Technic Metalix Eyeshadow Creams, my favourite at the moment is Plum Pudding which I've actually nearly used up so I'm going to need to re-purchase! Plum Pudding is a deep plum/purple shade which applies like a cream and can be blended really quickly with your fingers or a brush, again this looks beautiful just by itself and has a gorgeous metallic sheen to it! I cant recommend these enough and their only a couple of pounds, bargain!
Lastly autumn is all about adding a little bit of sparkle before we can go glitter crazy in December, let's just use it as an excuse to break us in shall we he he! I decided to get my Stila Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma back out and sometimes when I'm feeling a bit extra I add some on the centre of my lids and wow the sparkle is real! Kitten Karma looks great with all the plums and cranberry's too!

What eye products do you love to wear during autumn beaut's? I'd love to know!

Autumnal Interior Ideas!

Hey beaut's!

Now that we are creeping closer to October I'm getting myself into Autumn and Winter mode, I love getting my house Autumn ready, I'm talking cosy, cosy and more cosiness he he! Obviously I love to add a few Halloween themed pieces around the house but for me I love nothing more than getting those autumnal throws out and snuggling up so here's a few things I love to do in my home to make it feel more seasonal!

* Candles - I have been named the crazy candle lady many times because I'll admit I am a candle addict at this time of the year, but adding in some autumnal smelling candles to your home not only makes it smell incredible but it will instantly have that warm, cosy vibe going on! Even if you pop a couple of tea lights on, dim the lights and watch a movie it makes it feel 10x more cosy having some candle light flickering away!

* Lighting - I go fairy light crazy during the autumnal months, I think just like candles they add that cosy vibe to any space. I like to drape them anywhere and everywhere really, they work really well intertwined through ornaments on shelves, on book cases and even along the head board of your bed. I also have a few light-up ornaments that I like to dot around the house which add a real autumnal, cosy touch too! However if your a blogger like myself then you know how much lighting is key during the Autumn/Winter months, those darker mornings/evenings and those dull autumnal days in general can make it pretty hard to get some good lighting for our snaps, I've honestly been considering one of those Skylight Windows for my spare room from Glow Glass to let plenty of light in. I'd love to know how you achieve bright pictures during the autumnal months beaut's?!

* Soft Furnishings - Throws can make any space look more inviting and warm, their multi-useful too as you can snugly up in them and get super toasty, I always add a throw to my sofa and bed during autumn/winter! Something else I love to do is to whack some autumnal bedding on the bed, I got the cutest set last year with hedgehogs and foxes which I love so much so that will be going back on soon!

Other things you can do to add an autumnal touch in your home are.....
 * Add bowls of pine cones, conkers, leaves and cinnamon sticks around the house, you can easily make these yourself pretty cheap by going outdoors and collecting some up or you can buy some autumnal potpourri from the shop!
* Adding more cushions to your lounging space can add a more cosy feel!
* Pop vases of flowers in autumn colours around your home.
* Place a autumnal wreath on your door, these can easily be made at home too.
* Add some pumpkins to your pooch way.

What autumnal changes do you make to your home beaut's? I'd love to know!

Pumpkin Spiced Cupcake Recipe

Hey beaut's!

I've always wanted to bake some cupcakes around the Autumn/Halloween season that included pumpkin, I mean I'm a huge pumpkin lover when it comes to Halloween anyway but more in the decoration, homeware and carving sense not the eating sense, but I was determined this year to bake with pumpkin! Obviously to bake with pumpkin I needed to get some Pumpkin Puree or Pumpkin Spice, both of these are quite tricky to get in the UK but I managed to grab a tin of the puree online, so I based my bake around the puree and came up with a pretty epic Pumpkin Spiced Cupcake recipe, even if I do say so myself he he!
What You Will Need For 12 Cupcakes
50g butter, softened
1 large egg
90ml milk
125g pureed pumpkin
100g caster sugar
3 tablespoons brown soft sugar
140g plain flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

What You Will Need For The Cinnamon Buttercream
150g unsalted butter
300g icing sugar
1-2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Sprinkles to decorate (optional)

How To - The Cupcakes
 1. Firstly you want to preheat your oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and line a 12-hole muffin tin with paper cases.
2. Cream the butter and the caster sugar together in a bowl until pale, then pop in the egg, milk and pumpkin puree and mix again.
3. Then your going to want to add in your brown sugar and mix again, then pop in the rest of your dry ingredients including the flour, spices, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and mix until it becomes a smooth batter.
4. Divide your batter between the 12 paper cases and bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into one of the cakes comes out clean, then set aside to cool.

How To - Cinnamon Buttercream
1. To make the buttercream just beat the butter with an electric whizzer for a couple of minutes until it starts to go pale and fluffy then gradually add in the icing sugar and beat again for a few minutes. If you find your icing is slightly stiff just mix in a small amount of milk to loosen it up a bit.
2. Once the buttercream is done your going to want to add in your half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and mix that through the plain buttercream, to be honest you can add as much cinnamon as you like but I would go quarter teaspoon a time if your going to add it to your taste preference, I like my buttercream to have a light cinnamon taste so half a teaspoon was fine for me. You can also do this 'to taste' method with the spices in your cupcakes depending how much spice you like but I like mine quite delicate!
3. To decorate the cupcakes I just whacked my buttercream into a disposable piping bag and just snipped off the end to create a rounded swirl design, I didn't even bother with a pipping nozzle this time around.
4. I finished the cupcakes off with some orange sprinkles and some candy corn pieces on the top of each one and voila!!!

I'm so pleased with how these cupcakes turned out, they had a light 'autumnal spiced' taste and the pumpkin made them so moist and sweet, and the buttercream was to die for. I would definitely bake with pumpkin again, I do have quite a lot of the puree left in the can I bought so I might try pumpkin pie next he he. If your struggling to find pumpkin puree I know certain Tesco stores have cans of it and certain Waitrose and Ocado delivery's have it too, their are also recipes online to make your own too!

Do you like cooking with pumpkin beaut's? I'd love to know!

My Favourite Autumnal Lippies!

 Hey beaut's!

Autumn is here which basically means I'm as happy as a pig playing in mud right now he he, I embrace Autumn so much and switch things up with my home, baking, cooking, fashion and even my makeup and one thing I love embracing the most is an Autumnal lip. I love nothing more than rocking a berry toned lip at this time of the year but... I've also been leaning towards more 90's neutral tones too recently so I thought I'd share my favourites today!
From left to right...
1. Revlon's Black Cherry Lipstick is probably my all time favourite berry lip colour, it's a rich burgundy-wine colour which is stunning for Autumn/Winter. It has such a creamy and moisturising feel on the lips too and lasts for hours on my lips, I hardly ever have to top up when wearing Black Cherry which I love! This is actually my second bullet as I used this shade so much last year that I needed to repurchase again this year, as you can tell I'm a fan he he!
2. MAC Whirl is such a 90's throwback shade for me and I love wearing it at this time of year, its a muted, medium-dark rosy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish, I think of it as my autumnal nude he he.
3. MAC's Twig is my fail safe lipstick, if I'm having one of those days when I just cant decide what lippie goes with my makeup or outfit I know Twig is always a winner all year round, I couldn't be without this mauve beauty!
4. Tanya Burr's Pink Cocoa lippie is another gorgeous autumnal pinky brown toned nude, what I love about this one is how nourishing and creamy it is, perfect for when my lips get dry in the colder months, it honestly acts like a lip balm with the colour pay off of a lipstick, it's fab!
5. Revlon's Parisian Passion is a sultry plummy/berry shade that I love to wear on days when I want a berry lip but have awfully dry lips, the formula is super moisturising you see - because it's actually a moisturising stain, it goes on like a liquid lipstick but had a non-sticky gloss shine that feels really comfortable to wear!
6. Tanya Burr's Martha Moo is basically a matte version of Tanya's Pink Cocoa lipstick but in a liquid lipstick form, it has equal amounts of pink and muted brown within it making it the perfect autumnal 90's matte lip!

My Top Autumn Nail Polishes

Hi beaut's!

As Autumn approaches its the perfect time to switch things up in your makeup and nail polish stash, gone are the days of pastel pinks and neon oranges, it's time to get those deeper, darker hues back out! I was actually going through my all of my nail polishes the other day and got out my six favourites that I want to rock this Autumn so I thought I'd share them with you all today!
I tend to reach for a lot of berry and plum tones during the Autumn, and as you can see I have picked out a few to wear this year but I've also switched things up a bit and added and copper, green and navy into the mix and I love them all so much!
From left to right I have Barry M's Nail Paint in Raspberry - This has been a favourite of mine for many years and I'm always having to repurchase it, it's just the most beautiful raspberry red shade and is great to transition from Summer into Autumn. Then I have Barry M's Molten Metal Nail Paint in Copper Mine - This is a new favourite of mine which is ideal for Autumn, it's a gorgeous copper-toned polish which is crammed with multi-tonal shimmer that catches the light beautifully, this looks great used on accent nails too. Moving on to Barry M's Nail Paint in Berry Cosmo - Berry Cosmo is absolutely stunning, it's a rich deep plummy purple that I'm totally in love with. Then I have a couple of Essie Nail Polishes starting with the shade Power Clutch, this goes on khaki and really reminds me of Parka coat which I always rock during the Autumn, I also have the shade Mind Your Mittens also by Essie which is creamy, dark Navy shade but in some lights it can also look somewhat dark Grey, I love it! My final autumnal nail polish pick is Barry M's Matte Nail Paint in Crush - I think this could be my favourite Autumn nail polish you know, its a very deep burgundy wine colour which I think looks absolutely stunning, I seriously cant get enough of it!

All of the nail polishes above apply like a dream without any bubbling or streaking and last a good amount of time on the nails, I honestly don't think you can really beat Barry M or Essie can you, the price and quality is amazing!

What are your favourite nail polishes to wear during Autumn beaut's? I'd love to know!

Autumnal Nail Polish Picks from Fragrance Direct!

Hi beaut's!

Here in the UK we have just started to see the first signs of Autumn creeping in and the weather is certainly getting that little bit cooler and personally I love Autumn/Winter, it's my favourite time of the year. I just love everything about it but most importantly I love switching up my nail polish and makeup shades, it's time to say goodbye to the bright neon's and the pastel shades and hello to the darker, warmer, earthy tones! so today I thought it would be the perfect time to share my Autumn nail polish picks from my favourite discounted cosmetics website Fragrance Direct

Essie Power Clutch* £2.25 | RRP £7.99
You really cant beat Essie polishes can you, they go on streak free and completely opaque after just 2 coats and overall the quality is just great! I was drawn towards the shade 'Power Clutch' because it really reminds me of Parka coats which I love and always wrap up warm in during the Autumn-Winter months he he.

Essie Mind Your Mittens* £2.25 | RRP £7.99
Essie's 'Mind Your Mittens' is essentially a creamy, dark Blue shade but in some lights it can look somewhat like dark Grey shade, just like Power Clutch above the quality is really lovely and lasts so well on my nails. I think paired with a nice glittery top coat this shade could look stunning for Autumnal nights out!

OPI William Tell Me About* £3.99 | RRP £13.95
It's pretty amazing that Fragrance Direct sell OPI nail polishes at such a discounted price isn't it? OPI's 'William Tell Me About' is like one of those essential Autumnal shades, its such a pretty, rich burgundy-plum shade that looks amazing on the nails, and if your anything like me and like a little bit of sparkle then adding a glittery top coat over your accent nail with this shade will look stunning!

OPI You Don't Know Jacques!* £3.99 | RRP £13.95
Everyone needs a classic neutral nail polish for the colder months don't they, and OPI's 'You Don't Know Jacques!' is a creamy, mushroom-brown shade, it actually looks somewhat lighter on the nails than it does in the bottle but to me that's a good thing, so if your after a nice neutral for the winter Fragrance Direct have you covered he he.

OPI Pulled Out A Plum* £3.99 | RRP £13.95
OPI's 'Pulled A Plum' is more suited for Autumn/Winter evenings out, its a dark fuchsia-purple colour that contains minute shimmers that run all the way through the polish, because this shade isn't very creamy you do need 3 coats for it to be completely opaque but just like all OPI nail polishes the quality is lasting power is brilliant!

Rimmel Salon PRO Red Award* £1.25 | RRP £4.49

This Rimmel Salon Pro shade 'Red Award' is very eye catching on the nails and seems popular to anyone who see's it, it's that's dark berry shade that's everywhere throughout the Autumn/Winter and is amazing for day to night wear! I also found the quality of the Rimmel Salon Pro nail polish was actually very good and feels alot more expensive than it actually is which is always nice.

And there you have it beaut's, a few of my Autumnal nail polish picks. I'd highly recommend taking a peek at the Fragrance Direct website for when the seasons change and you want to switch things up shade wise because its always nice to save some pennies and you can find such amazing bargains on there he he, I love a beauty bargain!

Whats your favourite nail polish shade from this Autumnal post beaut's?? I'd love to know!

China Glaze | Loft-Y-Ambitions Review

Hey girlie's!!!

I seem to go nail polish crazy in the Autumn, and I just cant seem to resist a good berry tone shade, so say hello to China Glaze Loft-Y-Ambitions*.

Loft-Y-Ambitions* is a gorgeous deep, Burgundy shade perfect for this time of year, it also has ever so slight micro shimmers running through it that are only really visible in the bottle and not on the nails. You may notice this shade is very similar to Short & Sassy but without Short & Sassy's strong metallic sheen. Loft-Y-Ambitions applies really well without any bubbling or streaks and needed 2 coats to be completely opaque. The only downside to this polish is how darn fast it chipped, I used a standard topcoat and it was only on my nails 2 days before they could of done with completely re doing, I would definitely recommend a very good/strong top coat with this polish otherwise I'll think you'll be disappointed with its lasting power.

Overall I adore Loft-Y-Ambitions gorgeous autumnal colour but its lasting power really lets it down for me. I will just have to remember to apply a really good top coat when I use this shade again.

You can buy Loft-Y-Ambitions for £8.95 from beautychamber.co.uk, they have lots of other China Glaze polish shades to choose from including some sale polishes from just £5.00, what a bargain and great for stocking fillers for Christmas.

Have you tried Loft-Y-Ambitions before??? What did you think??? I'd love to know beaut's.

Hayley
