Revlon PhotoReady Foundation | Review

Hey beaut's!!!

I have spent months picking up the Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Superdrug and then putting it back down again but recently I finally caved in and treated myself. Don't get me wrong I love my Rimmel foundations and I repurchase them all the time but I always hear such good things about Revlon foundations in general that I just knew I couldn't fight temptation anymore.

Revlon's PhotoReady Foundation has a light-diffusing formula which claims to give you a complete yet virtually undetectable coverage, while also preventing sun damage with it's added SPF 20. The professionally designed formula has been tested under the harshest of lights and high-definition camera lens, resulting in the appearance of flawless skin whether your under indoor fluorescent lighting or full outdoor sunlight. It's also oil-free and fragrance free, well I was completely sold!
Revlon PhotoReady is available in 8 shades from Vanilla, which is the lightest shade to Cappuccino, which is the darkest shade. I opted for Shell which I have to say is pretty much a perfect match for my skin tone at the moment. The PhotoReady foundation comes packaged in a glass bottle which holds 30ml's of foundation and has a plastic pump dispenser, which I always prefer as it's easy to use, cleaner and you don't end up with much wastage which is always a bonus.
So what did I think of Revlon's PhotoReady offering... Firstly the foundation has a rather thin consistency which straight away I liked, I find thicker foundations always tend to be quite cakey so this was a good sign from my very first pump. I was super impressed with how beautifully PhotoReady blended onto my skin, I switch between my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and my Nanshy Buffer Brush and both brushes apply the foundation flawlessly and spread very quickly covering my face within seconds without clinging to or exposing any of my dry patches that I'm prone to getting which I think is fab. In terms of coverage, I'd say PhotoReady provides a medium but buildable coverage, you could quite easily get full coverage results from this foundation yet it feels so lightweight. The finish of this foundation I'd say is semi-matte, it also  contain light reflecting shimmers that give you a slightly dewy, soft luminous glow which I love, however if your not a fan of foundations that contain slight shimmer you'll definitely want to give PhotoReady a swerve, it also makes my skin look and feel super fresh and healthy.
As for photo taking which I'd say is this foundations biggest selling point... I do think that PhotoReady is an ok foundation for photography but not the best, after taking pictures myself and obviously a tonne of selfie's (as you do ha ha) my skin does look super flawless, with no ghostly flashback but that's only when the light isn't too bright, I do find that in certain lights the light reflecting shimmers do bounce back the flash of the camera creating a white cast on my face, so I would say it's 'PhotoReady' claim can be abit hit and miss depending on your environment.

Overall I do really like PhotoReady, I think it's great if your looking for a foundation to give you flawless/airbrushed looking skin with great coverage that isn't cakey or heavy in the slightest, it's also very easy to use, apply and blend, it hasn't broke me out or dried my skin out further and for picture taking during the daytime I've found it makes my skin look perfect. However I do have 2 downsides to this foundation, the first being that it didn't live up to it's PhotoReady claim when taking photos in ANY light and the second being it's price of £12.99, which I think is pretty expensive for a drugstore foundation so I'm not sure if PhotoReady would be something I'd repurchase often.

Have you tried Revlon's PhotoReady Foundation?? What did you think beaut's?? I'd love to know.

  2. I like that it has a pump and is lightweight but I'm a bit disappointed to hear that it doesn't seem to work as well on the photo ready front - after all for me that was the biggest selling point... :o) Xx

  5. I haven't tried many Revlon foundations - I think their price puts me off as they are drugstore but on the higher price range. Maybe if they go on sale, I'll give them a shot, because it does sound really nice!
