MUA Matte Lipstick in Wild Berry & Scarlet Siren | Review

Hey girlie's!!!

As you may or may not know I'm a huge MUA Cosmetics fan, their great quality make up for teeny tiny prices always lures me in, so when i heard MUA where releasing a Matte Lipstick Collection i just knew i had to try them out.

This time around MUA have given the packaging a slight revamp by changing the standard black packaging to plain white, like the standard MUA lipsticks the matte lipsticks still come complete with the cutest little surprise at the bottom, a small twist off jar with the same matte lipstick shade inside, its a little addition I've always loved by MUA. The matte lipsticks also all have names instead of the usual shade number which again is a nice little addition to the lipstick.

The Matte Lipstick Collection consists of 5 lipstick shades from nudes to more vibrant shades with a berry shade thrown in for good measure, there's definitely a shade for everyone in the collection. I picked up 'Wild Berry' and 'Scarlet Siren' both of which i was expecting to be quite drying on the lips as they are matte lipsticks after all, however... They both feel super lightweight and don't dry my lips out at all, the texture of the lipstick on the lips obviously feels dryer than the standard MUA lipstick but then that's to be expected with matte lipsticks. The formula of the matte lipsticks in the bullet feels some what waxy and hard which did make me panic slightly about the application but no need to worry as they glide on well and don't drag on the lips at all. I have to say the staying power of these lipsticks is incredible, they last for hours and eating and drinking doesn't defeat the staying power either.

Wild Berry

The favourite out of the two MUA Matte Lipsticks i purchased is Wild Berry, it might look super scary and dark in the bullet but my goodness it looks pretty on the lips. Wild Berry is an extremely wearable plum/berry shade that you can build upon to go as dark you like depending on your skin tone and occasion, to me it's the perfect Autumn/Winter shade.

Scarlet Siren

Scarlet Siren is a highly pigmented bright cherry red shade, it really is a 'wow' kind of shade. I can see 'Scarlet Siren' looking gorgeous on a night out, as for me this is definitely an evening shade, i think it would look lovely teemed with a LBD too. Like with 'Wild Berry' you can keep building up the colour and intensify it as much as you like.

All in all i have to say MUA have triumphed yet again with another amazing new release. The matte lipsticks are wearable, buildable, long lasting, have nice pigmentation and are extremely affordable at just £1 per lippy... Yup that right one single little pound!!! I'll definitely being buying the the other three in the collection as well as they're such beauty bargains!!!

You can buy the MUA Matte Lipsticks one the MUA website in most Superdrug store's and on the Superdrug  website.

Have you tried the Matte Lipsticks??? What shades did you buy???

  1. The wild berry looks fantastic on you. I'm glad to hear that they are long lasting, some of the other MUA lipsticks dry in that horrible way around the contours of your lips, so I might try some of them again :o): Xx

  5. They are such gorgeous shades, perfect for Autumn! I will definitely have to pick a few up when I'm next in Superdrug. Matte lipsticks are normally quite expensive aswell, so these seem great value for money!

  10. I got wild berry and I'm kinda disapointed, it has a.. crayola-like texture and it looks more like a lip balm than a lipstick on me. But scarlet looks lovely

    1. Oh no!!!! Yeah they do feel slightly waxy in texture but i like the fact that Wild Berry applies quite soft so you can build the colour to however you like, might be worth layering it up for more pigmentation and see if that's any better for you sweetie xoxo

  13. Wild berry is so gorgeous! Interesting that it has more of a balm-y effect/color, but not complaining because I'd prefer that color on your lips that what the lipstick actually looks like.

I need to stop discriminating against dark-y colors, haha. Brave that you picked the Wild Berry up, because I wouldn't even think of touching it.

  16. I've just ordered some of these so it's good to here so a great review on them. You've also taken away all the fears I had about them, they could be drying and short lasting. I also didn't know they had a pot of product at the moment. Learnt a lot from this post thank you.
