New 'Riviera Escape' Yankee Candle Reviewed

I recently popped into my local garden centre for a bit of a nosey about and of course I gravitated towards the Yankee Candle section. I soon became excited because I could see that they had a whole new collection on sale that has been released for Spring and Summer named the Riviera Escape Collection, so of course I had to pick a couple of the new scents up to try starting with Riviera Escape!

Riviera Escape (£1.80) is described as 'a coastal scent of glittering promenades, full with hillsides of beautiful blossoms glowing in the sun' and my goodness this screams summer to me! If your into slightly aquatic scents with hints of floral then I think you'll love Riviera Escape, I get that fresh sea air vibe from this mixed with floral blossoms which I think is such a nice combination and makes the scent so fresh and clean which I love! I would say the scent throw of  Riviera Escape is medium, it's definitely not overpowering but it still fills the house with it's gorgeous fresh scent very quickly. 

All the Yankee Candle votive/samplers claim to provide up to 15 hours of fragrance and Riviera Escape certainly really lasted really well. I actually used my votive over three days and got a good kick of scent each time. I'll definitely be buying this little beauty again!

My Spring Beauty Edit

Spring is finally here, so it’s time to shake things up in your makeup and beauty routine after the long, dark Winter! Say goodbye to your heavy matte foundations, dark eyeshadows and vampy lips and rekindle your love with something lighter, brighter and fresher. So today I thought I would share with you how I've swicthed things up in my makeup bag recently, just in time for some Spring sunshine!

Base Makeup

During Spring its all about a lightweight look and dewy skin for me and the first thing that is a staple for me is Makeup Revolutions Ultra Strobe Cream (review HERE), this cream just creates the perfect glow from within look and is the perfect base for your makeup to blend on top. Then instead of a foundation I always reach for a BB or CC Cream in the Spring and Summer monthes and the best one I've ever found in the drugstore is Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream, this just leaves my skin looking super even and pretty flawless whilst also being super lightweight and contains SPF which is something you shoul never skin in the Spring and Summer. Lastly for my base makeup I adore my Sleek Makeup Faceform Palette in Light, I just love having my bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one place and this little trio works amaizngly, I must admit I do switch up my blush a lot but at the moment I've been loving peachy tones! 

Eyes 

My Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette is always well loved by me during the Spring, just look how beautiful is it! Theres 12 pink toned shades ranging from light to dark and matte to shimmer so the list of looks that can be created is endless. As a base or a quick wash of colour if im in a bit of a pinch I love using my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold, this colour is effotlessly stunning and takes about 2 seconds to apply and blend with your finger so it's a defiate staple for me during the Spring, it also stays on like no other too!
Lips

Just like the eyes I love to wear pink, pink and more pink on my lips during Spring! If I want something glossy I like to reach for my Tanya Burr Picnic in the Park Lipgloss which is a pretty pinky coral shade, it's just so easy to throw on a I'll be needed a new one of these very soon as mines almost empty. For something more matte my Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy is a must, it's a gorgeous muted pink, kind of a your lips but better shade. Lastly I just had include my Mac Lipstick in Faux, this is actually very similar to Collections Cotton Candy as it's another muted mauve-pink shade but Mac's offering has a satin finish which is my absolute favourite! 

Perfume and Nails

And lastly it's my current go to Spring pefume and nail polish, I must admit these change all the time as I never stick to the same perfume or nail polish but the duo above I have been loving recently.... For my nails at the moment it has to be Barry M's Gelly High Shine Nail Paint in Dragon Fruit, it's a gorgeous bubblegum pink shade slightly brighter than a pastel but it's still gorgeous on the nails for Spring time wear. For perfume I've dug out my Library of Fragrance perfume in Daisy, if your family with Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume then you'll love The Library of Fragrance offering because it smells pretty much the same, it's so floral and light making it perfect for Spring!

Tanya Burr Hollywood Eye Palette Review

Ever since Tanya Burr added to her cosmetics range with eyeshadow, eyebrow and sculpting palettes I've been wanting to get my hands on them to give them a whirl but I've found them extremely hard to get hold of. I kid you not, I've been looking online at various websites and in store at Superdrug since last November and it was only a few weeks ago that I finally managed to find and buy the Hollywood Eye Palette in my local Superdrug, so I thought I'd share with you all what I think about the palette today.

The Hollywood Eye Palette (£5.99) comes in a thickened cardboard style packaging which does the job nicely, and contains a love heart shaped mirror inside which is always appreciated. I must admit the packaging is slightly too young and cutesy for my liking but I guess that's just me showing my age he he, I'm probably a lot older than the target market but never the less the palettes still sturdy and robust which I guess is the main thing.

Within the palette are four very wearable neutral shades; at the top of the palette is “Nude Delight” a light base colour that could also being used to highlight the brow bone and the inner corner of the eyes and “Gold Coin” which is a pale gold shimmer that works great all over the lid. Then at the bottom of the palette there’s “Enchantment” which is a dark antique gold colour with lots of chunky gold glitters running through it, sadly this shade is a bit of a right off for me, the glitters are just so chunky that it makes the shade very patchy and the pigmentation really suffers. Lastly theres “Bookworm” which is a gorgeous warm, red-toned brown which is great for the crease, Tanya actually designed this shade with bronzer is mind because she loves to wear bronzer through her crease so it's very much like a bronzer type of shade.

 In terms of the quality of the shades.... I would say its OK but nothing amazing, I found that all of the shades where extremely powdery as soon as a brush was swiped into them and the fallout is insane which is so annoying. The pigmentation again is OK but not amazing because you have to really build the colour up, and the shade Enchantment was a complete let down for me because it was so patchy and the gold glitters within it went everywhere on face. What I will say is amazing about these shadows is that they actually blend out beautifully once you've packed the colour on and gotten over the amount of fallout you have to deal with in the process! Overall I'd have to say I'm quite disappointed with this which is such a shame because the shades are beautiful to look at, it's just the quality side of things that let's this palette really down for me!
