A lip scrub is something that is essential for most of us girlie's in the Autumn/Winter month's, there's nothing worse than that awful feeling of dry, flaky, chapped lips when you have nothing to hand to help you out, but do not fear as a lip scrub is very simple to make using things that you should have in your kitchen cupboards and it's very effective too.
What you will need...
♦ Olive Oil.
♦ Honey.
♦ Caster Sugar.
♦ Flavouring, this is optional but I opted for Vanilla.
♦ Food colouring of your choice, again this is optional.
♦ A bowl and spoon to mix everything up.
♦ A container to pop your finished scrub into.
♦ Firstly your going to want to pop a heaped tablespoon worth of caster sugar into your bowl, the caster sugar is whats going act as our scrub making your lips nice a smooth and will get rid of any dry flaky skin. If you don't have any caster sugar you can use standard granulated sugar but remember it will feel slightly rougher on your lips that the caster sugar.
♦ Next your going to want to add a teaspoon worth of olive oil to the sugar and mix well. The olive oil is going to be the moisturising part of the scrub, it will add lots of moisture back into your lips and leave them feeling moisturised and smooth for quite some time.
♦ You will then need to add just a dribble of honey to the mix, this will just help the mixture stick together and make it taste nice and sweet.
♦ Now is the time for you to add your flavouring and colouring, this is optional but as I have lots of baking bits in my cupboards I decided to throw them in. You literally only need a tiny amount of the flavouring, I used Vanilla, and the smallest amount of food colouring, I used Red sparingly to get a baby pink shade. Then give it all one last mix and your scrub should be ready to use, simple!!!
♦ Store your scrub in a small container making sure it has a secure lid and it's completely clean before your pop your home made scrub inside, I think my container pictured above was brought from Superdrug a while ago, I think it cost me around 50p, I know it was super affordable though.
And there you have it, a super quick, easy and affordable way to keep your lips looking gorgeous this Autumn/Winter and it even tastes good too as all ingredients used are edible!!!
Let me know if your try making a lip scrub of your own this Autumn/Winter. I'd love to know what flavouring and colour you go for.

DeleteGreat DIY :) I love making my own scrubs and lip scrubs :) A tip (if you don't know already ofc) is to use for example coconut oil instead :) That way you can either use it "melted" or if you keep in a slightly cooler place you can use it as a more solid lipscrub :) or lipbalm for that matter!
ReplyDeleteIm gonna make me some new scrubs soon^^ x
Thank you hun :) Oh yes ive heard amazing things about coconut oil :) Thanks for the heads up :) xoxo
